ITINERARY OF 10 DAYS GRAND TOUR FROM MARRAKECH
DAY 1: AIRPORT PICK UP – ACCOMMODATION:
Our driver will pick you up at the airport in Marrakech on the first day of the 10-day Grand Tour from Marrakech and take you to the hotel.
DAY 2: MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA:
We travel to the charming seaside town of Essaouira from Marrakech. We’ll pause to see the well-known Argan tree goats and take in the expansive vistas of the surrounding area. Portuguese forts from the fifteenth century encircle Essaouira. This vibrant fishing town offers a unique blend of historical charm, color, and surf. Essaouira promises a lovely experience whether you want to stroll through the medina, which is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site and features vibrant markets and artisan businesses, or you want to lounge on sunny beaches.
Through any of the city gates, the medina—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—is a delight to explore, making sure you don’t get lost with its blue doors and window frames. A medina envelops the intriguing beach, offering the perfect setting for unwinding and cultural exploration. There are many charming terrace-style cafes nearby that are great for relaxing in your free time.
As you visit the Medina and the woodcarving workshops and artists, immerse yourself in the artistic ambiance. Essaouira invites you to savor every minute with its rich tapestry of creativity, history, and beach enjoyment. We will take a car back to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
DAY 3: GUIDED TOUR IN MARRAKECH:
Now You will tour Marrakech, the “Red City of Morocco,” with a local guide after breakfast at your riad. You will see a number of historically and culturally significant locations with your guide, including the well-known Jemaa El Fna plaza, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the Saadian tombs. Visit the Majorelle Gardens in the afternoon and have a quick look around Marrakech’s new city, which includes the Koutoubia tower. Lastly, transport you to your lodging. You are allowed to explore Jemaa El-Fna at your own pace.
DAY 4: MARRAKECH – KASBAH OF AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – DADES VALLEY:
Drive to the desert after breakfast, via the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the beautiful High Atlas Mountains. Along the route, there will be opportunities to pause and take in the stunning scenery from a broad perspective.
The renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is the next stop on our journey and a must-see. This fortified settlement is now recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is included on the World Heritage List. The Kasbah has also appeared in a number of movies, such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, etc.
We next travel to Ouarzazate and stop at the movie studios where a number of well-known movies were filmed. We’ll have lunch and then head to explore the Rose Valley, which will involve traveling past a large grove of palm trees in Skoura. Finally, we’re going to spend the night at Boumalne Dades.
DAY 5 : DADES VALLEY – TOUDGHHA GORGES- TINJDAD – MERZOUGA DESERT:
We’ll take a trip around the Dades Valley after breakfast. We’ll make a stop where we can get an aerial perspective of the valley and take in the breathtaking panorama of the Dades gorges. We’ll proceed on to Todra Gorges after that. The mountains have a large canyon cut by the Todra River, with huge red rocks on either side. There, you may stroll about and take in the breathtaking surroundings. After that, we’ll travel through Touroug and Tinjdad, which are regions with a lot of palm trees. On the way, you’ll have time for lunch.
After a long drive, we finally arrive in Erg Chebbi’s Merzouga Dunes, where you will check into your accommodation and enjoy a spectacular meal with Berber music. The hotel offers distinctive and cozy lodgings that let you completely enjoy the calm beauty of the nighttime desert.
DAY 6: AN EXPLORATIVE JOURNEY OF THE DESERT – VISIT NOMADS – CAMEL TREKKING – OVERNIGHT DESERT CAMP:
After a delectable breakfast, we take a journey to Khamlia village, where you may enjoy authentic Gnawa music performed to captivating rhythms. Then, deviating from the planned path, we’ll travel along unpaved road across the dunes and stop to have tea with nomads who live in traditional Berber tents. You’ll get to see a different way of life through this immersive experience, and you’ll even get to eat lunch—Berber pizza.
After unwinding at the hotel in the late afternoon, you’ll get ready for an amazing camel ride into the center of the dunes to see the magnificent sunset. After being welcomed with mint tea at the camp, you can unwind in your comfortable tents with private bathrooms and showers while the Sahara displays its breathtaking nighttime colors. Dinner is served, and while you dine, the group by the fire performs some music, adding to the romantic atmosphere of a starry Sahara night.
DAY 7: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ARFOUD – ZIZ VALLEY – AZROU – IFRANE – FES:
To ensure you don’t miss this amazing sight, get up early today to see the magnificent dawn, when the dunes come to life with an enthralling display of colors and shadows. Following breakfast, you will return to Merzouga on your camel, meet your driver, and go to Fes.
We will make a stop at the vibrant traditional market in Rissani along the way. When you stroll through its busy streets on a market day—Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays—you’ll be met with a colorful display of colors, scents, and sounds. We then make our way to Arfoud, where you may stop by a workshop that displays fossilized marble. The route continues through the middle Atlas Mountains and Ziz Valley’s lovely palm trees. We must visit Azrou’s cedar grove, where several entertaining monkeys reside. After that, take a journey to Ifrane, sometimes called Morocco’s Switzerland, so you may explore the town’s magnificence and capture stunning pictures. Drop you off at your Fes lodging.
DAY 8: EXPLORE FES WITH A LOCAL GUIDE:
Following breakfast at your riad, you’ll meet our local guide and explore the small, twisting streets of Fes medinas, immersing yourself in the city’s rich history and culture.
The famous Bab Boujeloud gate in Fes el Bali (789 ACE) is the starting point of the exploratory tour, which continues until Talâa Kebira’s main avenue. As you stroll past shops and souks (markets) searching for gifts and mementos, take in the architecture with influences from Spain and Tunisia. See the age-old practices in action at the Chouara Tannery, which dates back to the eleventh century. See the intricate zellij tile work of the 14th-century Al Attarine Madrasa before moving on to the “new city” of Fes el Jdid (13th century).
Savor expansive vistas of the city from the cemetery, the Mellah, and the historic Jewish district. If you have the time, explore Ville Nouvelle to witness the remarkable architectural transformation.
We’ll end the day by giving you some free time to spend exploring Fes at your own pace before you go to your lodging.
DAY 9 : FES – MEKNES – VOLUBILIS- RIF MOUNTAINS – CHEFCHAOUEN:
We will travel to Meknes, an imperial city with a rich history spanning back to the Alawite dynasty, once our driver has picked you up from your destination. Discover the lavishly decorated Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, the Sahrij Souani Basin, and the magnificent Babb el-Mansur entrance. Following a filling lunch, carry on your exploration to Volubilis, a well-known Roman site in Morocco that dates from AD 245-285.
The city of Moulay Idriss, which is situated atop the high peaks of the Khyber and Tazga hills, is the next stop on the schedule. This city, whose buildings cascade down the mountains, is very important to pilgrims and hosts an annual religious celebration in August. Take a breathtaking drive over the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the “blue city,” where you will spend the night to round off a wonderful day.
DAY 10 : EXPLORE THE BLUE CITY OF CHEFCHOUAEN – TANGIER:
You are free to discover the magic of the city today. Discover the town’s winding streets, which resemble a maze and are painted in entrancing shades of blue. Explore the narrow lanes of the Medina, where a breathtaking scene is revealed around every curve. Take in the vibrant atmosphere of the bustling souks (markets), which offer unique finds and the craftsmanship of regional artists. Or relax at a little cafe or restaurant and indulge in real Moroccan food that will entice your palate with mouthwatering delicacies.
After that, we go across the Rif mountains to Tangier. Depending on the departure time of your trip, we can leave you off at the airport or at your Tangier lodging.
